Sydney property developer Hyecorp Property Group has unveiled its plans to redevelop the iconic Club Willoughby site, as part of a joint venture with the Club.

The multimillion-dollar redevelopment proposes the transformation of the current Club Willoughby venue into a thriving multipurpose community hub, comprising of a brand new licensed club adjoining additional retail and hospitality facilities.

Another major drawcard of the redevelopment will be the inclusion of new luxury seniors living apartments, as a response to the growing demand for seniors’ housing in the area.

Managing Director of Hyecorp Property Group, Stephen Abolakian, says that the redevelopment, which is in initial planning stages, will revitalise the half a century old Club Willoughby venue, ensuring its survival into the future as community needs continue to diversify.

“Our vision is for the new Club Willoughby to be a state-of-the-art showcase for the suburb of Willoughby, which will endeavour to attract a new type of member to enjoy the activities that will be incorporated into the new premises,” said Stephen.

“With open meeting spaces and expanded club facilities including world-class hospitality venues, the precinct will be known as ‘The Heart of Willoughby’ – a focal point for community life and a gathering place in its own right.

“These upgrades are essential in ensuring the Club can continue to sustain itself for future generations to enjoy. We will be introducing new facilities and service offerings to accommodate a range of age groups and interests, creating a truly intergenerational hub.

“While an important goal of the redevelopment will be to attract younger members and visitors, we certainly recognise the need to preserve the traditions and attributes that have helped Club Willoughby become a much-loved community establishment,” added Stephen.

Club Willoughby and Hyecorp will be undertaking a thorough community and stakeholder consultation process, which will involve ascertaining community attitudes to a range of potential land uses.

“We’ll be conferring closely with Club Willoughby members, Council and the wider community over the coming months to commence the planning process. The feedback and responses we receive during this important consultation process will help inform the development of a community backed Master Plan,” continued Stephen.

“We want to make the new Club Willoughby a venue that everyone can enjoy, so it is vital that the community is involved in this project from the beginning.
