For buyers who wish to remain anywhere near the CBD, the freestanding home is rapidly becoming a pipe dream. But builds like Eva Lane Cove are attempting to help families enjoy the best of a traditional property, alongside a modern lifestyle.

The project at 2 Waterview Drive will include a total of 107 apartments, in a blend of one, two and three-bedroom homes. But crucially, it will also include a childcare centre, and an artisan cafe, as well as access to some of the area’s best infrastructure. With prices in the development starting at $650,000 it’s a lot of value for far less than the area’s $1.8 million median for houses.

“We are seeing strong interest from families as Eva is ideally located close to schools, shops, parks, restaurants and transport, all while being just 17 minutes’ drive from the Sydney CBD,” said Hyecorp Property Group Director of Sales & Acquisitions, George Benlian.

The unit’s themselves having also been designed with families in mind, and are 10 to 20 per cent bigger than an average apartment in the same area. “Buyers are increasingly looking for homes close to the CBD that provide more space for their growing needs. This is why we’ve designed the apartments at Eva as larger than the average size, and built storage solutions in at every opportunity to make the best use of space,: Mr Benlian said. Even the builds one-bedroom units will include a big multipurpose room. “The flexibility of the design allows buyers to tailor the space to suit their unique needs,” said Mr Benlian. Practicality isn’t the only draw-card of the development.

The interiors will be second to none, and are set to include 60mm stone bench-tops, Miele appliances, and oak veneer flooring, and many apartments will have harbour views of the Burns Bay waterfront. An Eva Lane Cove display unit is currently open, but the build itself won’t be ready until 2018.

Brand-new apartment near park and child care to give couple the life-work balance they crave

While many young families crave a space of their own, for Oraya Phuchongpravat, extra room and a big yard came second to balancing work with a happy life at home. Mr Phuchongpravat, her partner  and their two young children have bought a three-bedroom unit in the upcoming Eva Lane Cove -  a small but significant upgrade from their current two-bedroom apartment.

Ms Phuchongpravat said lots of time with the family and a great location were well worth any downsides. “The main advantage from our perspective is low maintenance,” she said. She said their current home was big enough for now, but they’d decided to buy something bigger so their children could have their privacy when they were older. “We will need a separate room for each of them once they grow up,” she said.

When choosing a development to buy into, Ms Phuchongpravat pointed to Hughes Park, directly opposite Eva, as a key factor. “As we are a young family with two young toddlers, the proximity to child care and parks/green space are certainly a big factor,” she said. “Proximity to child care means they have extra sleep time in the morning and extra time for us to cook healthy meals instead of commuting.” Community living, Ms Phuchongpravat said, taught her children to be aware of others and s smaller home helped keep the family close.

Her advice to other buyers chasing a similar lifestyle through an off-the-plan purchase is very practical: do your homework on those doing the building. “Hyecorp has a sound track record in Lane Cove,” she said. “They also deliver products with good-quality finishes.”
